Event info Swimrun Tamega; This takes place in northern Portugal, and is an Ötillö Merit race.
This event is NOT part of the swimrun Portugal series. Rather, it is a completely independent event, which allows it to arrange things a little differently!
In 2025, this race takes place on 1st June.

Location
Entre-os-Rios, in northern Portugal. This is a small village with impressive scenery, located between two rivers; the Douro and the Tâmega. There are hills, forests and vinyards.

Swimrun Tamega has not made any recommendations. However, there is plenty of choice in the area at AirBnB, Booking.com and other accommodation websites.
Race distances
There are 4 race distances at Tamega
The Sprint race involves 4 swim legs and 5 running sections. The total swim distance is 2.75 km and total run distance is 13.6 km.
The Standard distance event involves 3.25 km of swimming over 7 legs, and 27.15 km of running over 8 legs.
The Marathon event involves 5.25 km of swimming over 10 swim sections, and 37.15 km of running over 11 run sections.
You can enter any of the distances as a solo competitor or as a team of two, except for the Marathon, which must be completed as a team of two.

All the races finish at the same place, . There is a large parking area
. From the southern end of the car park you can get a bus to the start area of your race.
Be warned, in the Standard distance race, the second run section takes a long loop inland, away from the sea!

Around each course there are several water stops, offering hydration (water and electrolyte drinks), and fruit.
Cut-off times
Weather
Held around , the water is still cool from winter, but starting to warm up! The weather is usually warm but a little unpredictable. The water temperature is around 18 degrees C, according to the race organiser. Most athletes do NOT wear wetsuits for the 2 shorter events, but the organisers recommend a wetsuit for the Sprint and Standard distance races.
There is always a chance of cold or wet weather, so you should take suitable clothing for every eventuality!
